⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Kousuke Asazuki
Age: 17
Canon: Spiral
Canon Point: Post-Chapter 57

Background: Here.

Personality:

First glance of Kousuke would reveal that he's pretty much a normal high-schooler. He's generally friendly to strangers and slightly sarcastic to friends at a glance. It's obvious that there's nothing that would offset him from a normal person aside from a missing rib. But well, his surface personality is just a front for someone that's less than normal, to say the least.

Generally, Kousuke would just joke around and gets disrespected by pretty much everyone around him. In fact, most of the humor surrounding him comes from the fact that he's the straight man to the antics of his friends. He's fine with it, but honestly he would've liked being viewed as an equal in a normal social situation rather than just being the butt of the joke.

Inside though, he's pretty much just cold and acting pretty much as an adult due to his upbringing and his experience. Having been trained from youth to kill, as well as not having a proper childhood like some of the other Blade Children means that he's actually forced to mature earlier than supposed to. He's prone to create strategies that would seem cold-blooded to some people, as well as probably sacrificing some people if it meant the success of his plans. In fact, his early introduction implied that he tortured a victim before ending their life, to showcase that he is indeed, a professional killer.

As a killer, most of his kills tend to be clean, but it's implied that he has the slight sadistic streak of torturing his target. He tends to treat his job with utmost seriousness, even if on the surface he acts as if the job is such a bother. His mental capacity of taking in violence and death is abnormally high due to the amount of killing he had done from such a young age that these acts rarely faze him at this current point. If confronted with it, it's likely that he'll just shrug it off since this is pretty much what he's known for half of his life.

His ability to lie through his teeth made it easy for him to deceive friends or family in several situations. His first introduction had him force a card on Hiyono through sleight of hands, and then pretty much outing himself as the Blade Children that killed the person both Hiyono and Ayumu just saw earlier by having his cards remind them of the crime scene he himself created. In addition, later on during his 'game', he used his words to trick Ayumu into being trapped within a room of wasps (which Ayumu is deadly allergic to) as well.

Despite all this, parts of Kousuke is still not as broken as he would lead them to believe. He cares for his other Blade Children comrades and are willing to die for them, even if he hides it, especially Ryouko. However, he knows that he doesn't want his friends (just Ryouko, he's generally friendless) to worry about him so he tends to slightly push them away with his words and actions, just to make sure that they don't get into too much trouble. This is best shown two years before the canon start where he and Ryouko had to work together to solve a string of music-box murders, where he just tries to push his childhood friend/half-sibling away in order to protect her. Of course, that didn't work in the end.

When the chips come down and maybe several plans have failed along the way, Kousuke is the strongest mentally at that point. Cornered, Kousuke's fight or flight instinct is generally at its strongest. If he has a goal in sight, he won't hesitate to do anything to achieve it, whether it's by using all of his tricks or sacrificing himself to do the deed. His goal becomes his utmost focus and he'll never give up until he dies. It's said by Kiyotaka that this is one of his strongest quality, but really this is also his double-edged sword as he would've tunnel-visioned hard without anyone around to hold him back.

Kousuke generally accepts his fate as a Blade Child, being one of the ones that believe that he can't be saved at all. He's a murderer that shouldn't be alive at this point, and that when the curse hits, whatever fate that befalls him at that point wouldn't matter. In addition, he's also accepted that Kiyotaka would probably continue playing the Blade Children like a fiddle and that he'll never surpass Kiyotaka at all. Recent events though has finally started to open his eyes as through his "tests" and everything that happened with Kanon, he's finally started to trust Ayumu as the hope for all Blade Children.

Abilities:
- Weapon Training:
Trained by his fellow Blade Child, Kanone Hilbert; Kousuke is proficient with weaponry, being able to use firearms with deadly precision, his shots will barely miss a normal human with good reflexes, and he's no slouch with knives too.
- Assassination Skills:
In addition, he's trained in the art of killing people, he's able to hide himself really well, as well as know which part of the human bodies to attack in order to kill them without a fuss.
- Quick-Thinking:
Like most Blade Children, Kousuke's mind is sharp. He's able to form strategies within seconds, as well as being able to pass an entrance exam to Ayumu's prestigious school despite having dropped out of school years ago.

Alignment: Piphron. Kousuke is one of the few people that's not trusting of Ayumu and later on ending up trusting said person later down the line.
